Building+Renewing+Believing: Holy Spaces Campaign
Phoebe Singley Callahan Pool Officially Dedicated
This past weekend, nearly 100 individuals gathered at Camp Kinard for the official dedication of the Phoebe Singley Callahan Swimming Pool.
Part of the Building+Renewing+Believing: Holy Spaces Campaign, this new handicap accessible feature at Camp Kinard will ensure youth and adults can enjoy a break from the summer heat while on retreat.
“This is indeed a beautiful sight” shared Rev. Mary M. Finklea
SCLRC’s Community & Congregation Engagement Coordinator. “This [new pool] has been long awaited, long dreamed of, and it is here!”
SCLRC also celebrated six individuals were voted on and received the coveted distinction of being the first ones to swim in the new pool. Bill Newmyer with the SC Synod Lutheran Church Youth, Rev. Matthew Titus of Lutheran Church of the Redeemer (Newberry, SC), Camp Kinard Director Nevin Rodgers, Rev. David Coffman with Newberry College Campus Ministry, Rev. Rebecca Wicker of Summer Memorial Lutheran Church (Newberry, SC), & Coastal Retreat Director Elliott Cox all jumped in the pool as the dedication came to a close.
In the days leading up to the event, 41 donors showed their support for SCLRC’s ministry and raised an incredible $7,475 towards the Holy Spaces campaign. We give thanks for all who attended the dedication, supported the “Make a Splash” campaign, and all those who have shown their ongoing support for the South Carolina Lutheran Retreat Centers!
