Updates from Camp Kinard & Coastal Retreat
SCLRC eNews – November 2024
You’re invited! Register today for Wreath Workshop at Camp Kinard
“Set your house fair as you are able, Trim the hearth and set the table, People, look east and sing today, Love the Guest is on the Way!”
Gather your friends and plan to join us on Tuesday, December 3, 2024 from 9:30am-1:00pm, at Camp Kinard for our upcoming Wreath Workshop. Add a fresh evergreen wreath to your home for the perfect festive touch this season!Â
We will first walk around the camp, gathering beautiful supplies from all around us in nature, like holly, magnolia, and pine. We will then be creating lovely wreaths and greenery to adorn our homes or to give to a friend.Â
Rev. Mary Finklea will be leading us as we learn how to create exquisite wreaths from our very own greenery. Those with small hand pruners are encouraged to please bring them. Register Here →
Frazzled to Fantastic!
Is Your Daily Schedule Too Packed? Do You Struggle with Managing Stress? Does Relaxation Take a Backseat in Your Life?
Jesus doesn’t want us to get swallowed up by the concerns of this world. Yet how can we share our God-given talents and work together as the body of Christ if we are stuck in our own problems?
“Frazzled to Fantastic” (January 14-15, 2025, at Camp Kinard) is designed to help you discover how to take care of yourself so you can keep doing what God is calls you to uniquely do! A yoga instructor and graduate of Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary, D’Etta Broam has a passion for helping others discover balance in mind, body, and spirit.
Through lecture, interactive, and small group formats, participants will learn self-care tips and practices. In her unique, fun, and faith-filled style, D’Etta will also incorporate methods of breathing, balancing, stretching, and strengthening the bodies that God created. Learn more →
*EARLY BIRD SPECIAL – Those who sign up before January 1, 2025, will receive $20 off their registration!
“Walking Together” – SC Synod (ELCA) celebrates 200 years of mission & milestones
We’re excited to be a part of the South Carolina Synod’s (ELCA) ongoing 200th Anniversary celebration.
Thank you to our SCLRC Coordinator of Older Adult Ministries, Pegi Roberts, for interviewing Rev. James & Celie Addy, Jane Holmes, Rev. David Coffman, and Dallas Shealy. We give thanks for their willingness to share ministry highlights from Camp Kinard & Coastal Retreat from over the last 50+ years. These full interviews will be stored in the Crumley Archives to help preserve the story of SCLRC’s ministry.
We appreciate those involved who continue to tell the story of these holy spaces where God continues to change lives!
